Our Capital Markets team is looking for a Director of Technology in Herndon, VA that will be leading on some of the most important digital transformation work impacting the entire mortgage industry. As a Director of Technology, you will be accountable for all of the technical decisions, roadmaps, and deliverables that impact our critical Treasury operations including Derivates trading and Corporate Debt Issuance.
We are looking for a strong and experienced leader with a deep technical and business background who can effectively lead us to our target state in Java, Microservices, and AWS. Our Software Engineer teams are thought leaders who solve problems through innovation, iteration and applying cutting-edge tools and technologies. You will plan, direct and manage 3 major functions within Capital Markets totaling out to around 50 resources to ensure it is an effective operation that is in line with our key goals and objectives.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
•Lead, manage, and oversee projects, initiatives, and daily operations related to: assessing business and technology processes and functional needs for the enterprise; designing and implementing the optimal mix of system components to support the functional needs; managing the system development/enhancement lifecycle ' from business and systems requirements analysis through development; testing, quality assurance, post-deployment support, managing a portfolio of internal controls around business processes, systems, and data
•Lead, and oversee the project management lifecycle from conception through completion that includes assessing business requirements, scoping and planning projects and initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, tracking and reporting project status, managing deliverables, and assessing customer satisfaction.
•Responsible for the development of best practices and guidelines for existing or new technologies within responsible area(s).
•Researches and selects vendors regarding the development of technical solutions, as needed, in conjunction with executive management.
•Reports to executive management on major accomplishments, issues and concerns.
•Plan and manage the unit's budget; approve expenditures or budget transfers.
•Represent the unit as an expert or resource to cross-functional project or coordinating teams and report to senior management on the unit's production, activities, and efforts.
•Plan, document, and manage the performance of subordinate managers and/or staff. Conduct talent management activities including mentoring, training, or providing technical growth opportunities.
B.S or M.S in Computer Science or related field
8+ years of related experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
•Minimum 7 years of experience as a Sr. Manager or Director with demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed technical teams
•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and operate independently with a high level of ambiguity and change
•Ability to be both strategic (roadmaps, architecture, planning, etc.) and tactical (specs, code review, root cause analysis, etc.)
•Demonstrated experience with relationship building with executive and senior management across various functions of the business
•Experience implementing various Agile practices and methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean, TDD/ATDD, BDD w/ Cucumber, etc.)
•Experience building and supporting mission-critical applications leveraging industry best practices and trends including Design Thinking product development, Microservices, Containers as well as driving change to move to the API economy
•Experience or knowledge with a broad mix of technologies including Angular, Backbone, ReactJS, REST/JSON, Spring Boot, Node.js, Java, Kafka, SOA, Spark, NoSQL, Oracle, UNIX, and Software-Defined Networking
•Experience leading teams through Cloud and DevOps adoptions including strong familiarity with AWS/Azure, Docker, Jenkins, Puppet/Chef/Ansible, Git/SVN
•Experience in Capital Markets environments; knowledge of Treasury and Cash systems would be a plus including related emerging technologies
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
