Our Governance Risk & Compliance team in Herndon, VA is looking for a Software Engineer that will be part of some of the most important work affecting Fannie Mae today and in shaping our future state. This team is currently working in a unique area where your key stakeholders/clients are key members of leadership such as Chief Officers and Vice Presidents. You will be given exposure to a unique product line involving MetricStream and you will have the opportunity to shape the work on future AWS cloud toolsets. As a key member of the technical team, you will help define and build modern solutions impacting the multitrillion-dollar mortgage industry.
We are looking for a strong and driven Developer that is excited to learn and develop their technology skillset.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
•Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised application.
•Participate in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
•Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
•Leverage Fannie Mae DevOps tool stack to build, inspect, deploy, test and promote new or updated features.
•Respond to trouble/support calls for applications in production in order to make quick repair to keep application in production.
•Create or Update documentation in support of development efforts. Documents may include detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams or design documents.
•Mentor less experienced staff.
•Set up and configure a continuous integration environment.
•Intermediate proficiency in unit testing as well as coding in 1-2 languages (e.g. Java, etc.).
•Intermediate proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis.
•Intermediate proficiency in application of analysis/design engineering functions.
•Intermediate proficiency in application of non-functional software qualities such as resiliency, maintainability, etc. Intermediate proficiency in applying behavior-driven testing techniques.
•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
•4+ years of related experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
•Ability to analyze complex business requirements to generate technical specifications to design/redesign complex software components and applications
•Ability to leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution
•Minimum of 4 years of software design and development experience
•Hands-on experience and proficiency in programming Python or Java/J2EE
•Effective at providing production support, debugging issues that may arise and providing unique solutions to issues and enhancements
•Knowledge on CI/CD and working in an Agile/Scrum methodology
•Hands on experience with building RESTful Web Service
•Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment and shell scripting
•Knowledge of AWS Cloud implementation
•Hands on experience in building and deploying applications in AWS
•Experience in AWS technologies like EC2, S3, EB, Lambda, BATCH, Code Commit, Code Pipeline, SageMaker would be a plus
•Knowledge of Container technologies such as Docker
•Knowledge or experience in MetricStream would be plus but not required
