Our Capital Markets Technology team in Herndon is looking for a Sr. Full-Stack Software Engineer to help support our high-profile treasury applications. You would be helping to lead the team that is supporting some of the most important financial activities happening at Fannie Mae as well as be on the front line for new changes including moving our entire platforms to AWS. 
We are looking for a Sr. Engineer that is interested in learning and incorporating new technologies into their skillset. In this role, you would use a tech stack including Java, Spring Boot, Angular and Microservices-based architecture in AWS. You will be part leading a team and involved in all of the steps of the software development life cycle in an Agile environment including the design and architecture of future states. You will participate in code reviews and help to coach/mentor more junior engineers.  


•Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised applications or large/complex development projects.
•Create or Update documentation in support of development efforts. Documents may include detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams or design documents.
•Participate in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
•Respond to trouble/support calls for applications in production in order to make quick repair to keep application in production.
•Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
•Mentor less experienced technical staff; may use high end development tools to assist or facilitate development process.
•Leverage Fannie Mae DevOps tool stack to build, inspect, deploy, test and promote new or updated features.
•Set up and configure a continuous integration environment.
•Advanced proficiency in unit testing as well as coding in 1-2 languages (e.g. Java, etc).
•Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis. Advanced proficiency in application of analysis/design engineering functions. Advanced proficiency in application of non-functional software qualities such as resiliency, maintainability, etc. Advanced proficiency in advanced behavior-driven testing techniques.


•Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required


•5+ years of related experience


Required Skills

•5 to 7 years of experience of full-stack development/design using Java/JEE
•Experience as a technical lead on projects and ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders across multiple groups
•Experience in front-end technologies such as Angular, JavaScript (TypeScript would be highly preferred), ReactJS etc.
•Ability to be part of and help lead complex architecture and design sessions
•Experience with Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Integration
•Experience with implementing integration solutions with RESTful Web Services and Web APIs
•Experience with CI/CD with knowledge of Git Hub, Maven and Jenkins
•Automation testing experience using Selenium and Cucumber
•Knowledge or experience in basic DevOps support and deployment
•Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other engineering teams and key business stakeholders
•Ability to lead in an Agile environment

Desired Skills

•AWS or other cloud technology experience or strong desire to work on cloud technology implementation and development
•Knowledge of Microservices-based architecture is strongly desired
•Understanding of financial engineering would be a plus
