Fannie Mae seeks Software Engineer – Reston, VA


  • Use tools, techniques, and methods to develop, modify, or update applications used by business units or infrastructure units. Participate in or review all of the steps in the software development life cycle.
  • Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised applications or large/complex development projects.
  • Create/update documentation including detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams, and design documents in support of development efforts.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
  • Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies.
  • Set up and configure a continuous integration environment.
  • Mentor less experienced technical staff.

Req’d: Master’s in computer science or engineering plus 5 years’ experience in job offered or related, or Bachelor’s in computer science or engineering plus 8 years progressive experience in job offered or related. Experience must include: Agile practices/methodologies (e.g. Scrum, TDD, BDD, etc), Object Oriented Design (OOD); AWS implementation patterns; developing mainframe systems and Client Server Technology; and programming in Java, .NET, SQL, or similar. Excellent communication skills required.
