JOB INFORMATION

Establish, maintain, and communicate standards for recording, searching, and reporting data kept in the enterprise's databases and warehouses. Confer as needed with other technical staff to plan database conversion projects, or to establish large scale mining, reporting, or data display exercises. Guide or provide technical assistance to database administration projects or operations to maintain enterprise-wide standards and attain more efficient use of data resources. Research, assess, and report use of data standards and ways in which they can be modified as needs change and corporate platforms develop.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Confer with management and lead staff of client units that are large users of corporate data to determine the kinds of analyses, reports, or mining/warehousing functionality they will need.
  • Acquire from unit staff and from clients concerns about data quality, form in which it is available, linkages to other datasets and the like, and develop internal standards and procedures to address these concerns.
  • Review processes within unit that affect formatting, entry, quality control and standardized uses of data to identify inefficiencies, needs for training, or ways in which corporate or departmental standards need to be better communicated.
  • Conduct consultations or training in business units regarding standardized or best practice ways of capturing, formatting and structuring data that will go into corporate databases.
  • Confer on data management projects regarding data meaning, understanding and usage, standardized data tables to be used, standard data management tools to be used, and quality standards to be applied.
  • Confer with database administrators, data warehouse management and other department staff regarding data retention policies, current system architecture and how it interacts with data management issues and represent corporate standards and best practice.
  • Survey market and professional affiliations for current best practice in data management and convey to colleagues and clients.
EDUCATION  
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Preferred areas of study, Accounting, Business, Computer Science or Finance 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 
  • 8 – 10 years of related experience   
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS 
  • Responsible for evaluating report requests to determine requestor’s needs and objectives, identifying correct methodology for extracting data including data sources and criteria, and ensuring the delivered report is accurate, timely, and formatted appropriately.
  • Develop and prepare reports utilizing available analytics and data mining tools, including but not limited to: MS BI Suite (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS), SQL server 2008/2008R2, 2012, 2014, Oracle 9I/10g/11g, Azure, MS Visual Studio 2010/2012, Report Builder 2012/2016, MS Power BI Desktop/Online, Tableau Desktop/Server/Reader.
  • Extensive knowledge/Hands on experience in architecting or designing Data warehouse/Database, Modelling, building SQL objects such as Tables, Views, User defined/ Table valued Functions, Stored Procedures, triggers and indexes.
  • Ability to work/troubleshoot issues with any reporting tools and Queries different databases/ DW based on the requirement and thorough knowledge on Database/DW architecture.
  • Thorough understanding and hands on experience with Portfolio/Resource/Financial Management applications/processes such as MS Project Server 2016/Planview v17+.
  • Ability to understand relational database concepts, table/DB design and structure, joins, data normalization, and data types.
  • Experience in building SSRS Tabular Reports, matrix, Charts, Parameters, Sub reports, Indicators/ gauges using Visual Studio 2012 and Report Builder 2016 utilizing multiple data sources/datasets.
  • Managing or creating Data driven subscriptions, coordinating with SQL/SharePoint teams to trouble shooting SQL agent jobs/Reporting integration as needed.
  • Experience working with SharePoint BIC center to deploy SharePoint integrated/Native reports/Dashboards and integrating them with the Report App.
  • Ability to work/troubleshoot issues with any reporting tools and Queries different databases/ DW based on the requirement and thorough knowledge on Database/DW architecture.
  • Good experience in Performance Tuning/ Query tuning SQL objects as needed to provide quality reports/Dashboards.
  • Good Reporting Impact Analysis skill in analyzing the dependencies across reports/Dashboards, SQL Objects and configurational changes in the application.
  • In-depth knowledge on ETL concepts and troubleshooting issues with SSIS packages and working closely with ETL developers as part of Data analysis/configuration process.
  • Responsible for understanding the various data sources available within the company for reporting and analysis, as well as a clear understanding of business operations to be able to appropriately guide the development of quality program activities, including analysis and reporting.
