Our Enterprise Innovation team is a band of technologists and product disruptors who are responsible for accelerating innovation within Fannie Mae.  Functioning similar to a tech incubator - we pilot new and emerging tech, build partnerships with startups and build products at scale; with an aim focused on impacting the Housing Finance ecosystem.
As Director of Digital Innovation Engineering - you will be responsible leading a full stack engineering team in Plano, TX.  You’ll develop minimum viable products (MVP) in real-estate, leveraging lean/agile methods. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and key stakeholders to prototype and strategize engineering roadmaps for various products.  This Director will also serve as a “hands-on” leader who is able to “roll-up their sleeves” and code.

  • Oversee all aspects of the Engineering organization, including the technical strategy, technology blueprint, and technology stacks. Manage the end to end technology execution
  • Define and manage the technology landscape and blueprint for the entire solution stack. Work closely with lead engineers and architects to co-own the architecture and component strategy Actively engage in sprint planning, delivery and the management of releases
  • Provide hands-on technology leadership to the engineering team Provide expert technical guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales and product
  • Ensure consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, and maintenance Identify risks and opportunities for each project
  • Mentor, motivate, and lead Engineering teams to support a vibrant and productive engineering culture Coordinate recruiting efforts across engineering units to ensure consistency and continued excellence
  • Lead the organization’s strategic planning process, coordinate with Product Development team to align engineering, and business priorities
  • Work closely with the Product and Design Heads to clarify, estimate, and prioritize features and integrations
  • Communicate with multiple stakeholders effectively

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
8+ years of related experience
  • BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of experience of building large-scale digital products 
  • 3+ years of experience developing solution architecture and leading engineering teams at startups, tech incubators, or spin-offs  
  • Experience as a hands-on Engineering Leader - developing web apps, API’s, and scaling cloud architecture for large volume of transactions
  • Extensive experience launching new products 
  • Excellent presentation skills to multiple audience such as technical and executive
  • Ability to coach and mentor software engineers, scrum masters, and development managers
  • Passion for building products at scale  
  • Experience working for a FinTech or Startup
  • Experience leveraging Design-Thinking
