JOB SUMMARY

Overview of Job/Management and Reporting Structure
 

The VP of Internal Communications will play a vital role in shaping and implementing Fannie Mae’s internal communications strategy and vision. This position will be charged with leading a team whose function is highly valued by executive management.  The internal communications team has driven the company’s shift to open, timely, transparent dialogue with employees. The VP of Internal Communications will be expected to offer innovative thinking and bold ideas to the team and to the company as a whole. This position will partner closely with internal stakeholders and executives to develop and implement programs that support the company’s Vision, Values and Behaviors. This person will be a strong leader who encourages creativity and constantly looks for ways to improve upon the team’s success. The person will focus on creating programs that are visible and measurable and will have a keen ability to build relationships and influence internal stakeholders. This person will have experience in implementing change communications programs and be a strong change agent as we continue to evolve the company and culture.

 

This position leads the Internal Communications team, developing and executing communications strategies for both divisional and enterprise communication, while supporting our culture and brand internally. They are also a member of the overall Marketing and Communications leadership team reporting to the SVP & Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

 
Key Job Functions and Duties
  • Assess, manage and develop talent in support of a high performance, merit-based company and contribute to the development of a best-in-class Marketing and Communications organization.
  • Effectively develop members of the division with diverse levels of experience and expertise.
  • In collaboration with the CMO and peer leaders, develop and implement internal communications plans in support of the company's corporate and business objectives.
  • Develop programs to support a high performing culture based on the corporate Vision, Values and Behaviors.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive business results.
  • Establish trusted advisor role with the business and executives.
  • Provide leadership, expertise and guidance in the implementation and management of strategies, innovative programs and initiatives designed to support Fannie Mae’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Oversee creation and implementation of leadership programs and initiatives that further the objectives of the company’s Vision, Values and Behaviors.


 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10 or more years of related experience in communications, change management, and/or employee engagement with 5 years or more in a leadership position
  • Ability to develop, lead and execute a robust internal communications and employee engagement programs for a large, diverse organization.
  • Strong combination of excellent skills in the areas of written and verbal communication, strategic planning, and change management.
  • Proven track record of driving and managing change in a complex organization.
  • Proven experience partnering and influencing senior leaders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
