THE COMPANY

We are looking to build our network of interested summer internship and fulltime entry-level candidates who visited Fannie Mae’s booth at the Technica Hackathon on November 10th & 11th, 2018, and we invite those individuals to share their information with us.
 
Internship Opportunity
Our summer internship program is designed for undergraduate students only. Students who will be finishing their junior year in May 2019 are preferred. Other years in school are considered on a case by case basis.
 
The Fannie Mae summer internship program is a 10-week program designed to give students in depth work experience in areas such as Business Analysis, Modeling and Analytics, Technical Analysis, Finance, Accounting, Audit, Enterprise Risk, Development, Engineering and more. Our internships are designed as a pipeline for our entry-level full time programs. Selected students are offered full-time positions at the completion of the summer based on job performance and business needs. The internship provides career development opportunities, including an Executive Speaker Series, community service activities, training opportunities, and networking events. Positions are located in our District of Columbia, Reston, Herndon, and Plano offices.
 
Fulltime Entry-level Opportunities
 
The below opportunity is designed for graduating May 2019 undergraduate students only looking for full time opportunities.
 
Fannie Mae Rotational Program
  • A two year rotational program with three rotations: two 6-month rotations and one 12-month rotation.
  • The program has a variety of tracks for Financial, Non-Technical, and Technical skillsets.
  • Start date: August 2019
  • Location for each track varies – opportunities between DC and VA; Plano, TX
The below opportunities are designed for graduating May 2019 college students looking for full time opportunities or recent graduates (0-2 years) of work experience.
 
Financial Engineer
  • Multi-week Immersion Program of rigorous seminar-style training including technical trainings in SAS, SQL, R, and Business Intelligence tools (Tableau) and an introduction to working with technology and data platforms, including Netezza, Oracle and UNIX.
  • Location: Washington, DC; Plano, TX
  • Start date: January and June 2019
Software Engineer
  • Multi-week Technical Immersion Training to learn Fannie Mae tools, technologies, products, and methodologies for deepening skills in design, coding and testing.
  • Location: Reston and Herndon, VA; Plano, TX
  • Start date: January and June 2019

Financial Engineer Qualifications
  • Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, and Math/Stats majors preferred.
  • Demonstrated research and problem solving skills.
  • Possess superior communication skills and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Interest in using data and technology to improve business decisions and processes, along with a desire for practical training in applied modeling and analytical methods. 
 
Software Engineer Qualifications
  • Computer Science, Systems Engineering, and Computer Engineering majors preferred, other technical majors considered.
  • Knowledge of unit testing as well as coding languages.
  • General skills understanding of programming and data storage relationship principals.
  • Understanding of SQL and database programming.
  • Ability to adapt shifting priorities, multitask, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, is a self-starter, embraces continuous improvement and is execution oriented.
